The collections of the Stranraer Museum relate to the former county of Wigtownshire and cover a wide range of subjects, from prehistoric archaeology to costume. Objects relating to local fishing and farming feature strongly, especially those connected with the dairy industry. Most of the objects in the Museum’s collection can be viewed on the Future Museum website (see below). The Museum also holds an archive relating to the burghs of Newton Stewart, Stranraer, Whithorn and Wigtown, and a collection of photographs by Andrew McCormick.
